Android gaming is getting bigger and better every month it seems and there is always a slew of new titles coming to Google Play. Whether you’re a casual gamer or you want something with a bit more meat on its bones, there’s usually a game coming out to suit everyone’s taste. Some months are better than others, but there is usually at least one great new game on mobile every month. Let’s take a look at the best new Android games from the last month! The Game of Life 2
Price: $3.99 with in-app purchases
The Game of Life 2 is a mobile game sequel to the classic board game. This version of the game features upgraded and modernized options from the original along with some extra game play elements. The various permutations result in thousands of potential outcomes. Some of the game’s other features include online multiplayer, a single player mode, and a pass-and-play local multiplayer mode. The game runs for $3.99 with no advertising. You can sign up for the optional season pass, but it’s entirely optional. Once you buy the game, you have the game.
Hatsune Miku – Tap Wonder
Price: Free to play
Hatsune Miku – Tap Wonder is an idle tap game featuring Japan’s most popular vocaloid. At its core, it’s just a standard idle tapper. You open the game, tap a bunch, and use the earnings to get various upgrades. It features the music of Hatsune Miku so it’s a decent little game for fans of her music. Players can also dress up Hatsune Miku, unlock various support characters, and design the stage area to your liking. It doesn’t play the biggest hits and it’s not the rhythm game we all hoped for, but it’s a fun little time killer either way.
Layton: Unwound Future in HD
Price: $13.99
Layton: Unwound Future in HD is the latest mobile port from the Professor Layton series. It joins four or five other games from the series on mobile. The Professor Layton franchise is a series of mystery adventure games. In this one, Layton receives a letter from his murderer, but ten years in the future. The game contains over 200 puzzles, various mini games, and offline play support. It’s technically the third game in the series. It’s also a bit expensive at $13.99. However, this is a faithfully made port from the game’s handheld console days and there are no ads or in-app purchases to mess things up.
One-Punch Man: Road to Hero 2.0
Price: Free to play
One-Punch Man: Road to Hero 2.0 is an idle style card collecting game with some mobile RPG elements. The game features a variety of game modes, including a story mode, online PvP, an Extreme Trial mode, and a few neat extra mini-games. However, the basic premise is classic gacha. You collect heroes via cards and upgrade them to be more powerful. Admittedly, this one is a bit slower than most for free players and the energy system is a little bit restrictive. Still, the game is otherwise quite fun and we hope the developers balance out those other elements in future updates.
Outsider: After Life
Price: $3.99
Outsider: After Life is a mystery adventure game with puzzle elements. Players solve various puzzles as they unlock new bits of the story. The game has a decidedly retro feel, but not in an unpleasant way. There are plenty of puzzles and the mechanics are quite simple. The only real downside are the vague instructions for puzzles. It’s also a shorter game so don’t expect to play this one for an outstanding amount of time. It runs for $3.99 with no in-app purchases or ads. You can also pick it up for free with Google Play Pass.
Romancing SaGa Re;univerSe
Price: Free to play
Romancing SaGa Re;univerSe is a new free to play mobile RPG from Square Enix. It takes place in the SaGa universe the same way Final Fantasy Brave Exvius takes place in the Final Fantasy universe. Players collect characters from the various games, form teams, and take out all manner of new threats. The game play elements are very much like the other SaGa games. You can also auto or manual battle depending on if you’re just playing casually or need something more hardcore. The reception for this one has been really good and players seem to agree that it’s a very free player friendly game.
SINoALICE
Price: Free to play
SINoALICE is mobile gacha game directed by Yoko Taro (NieR Automata, Drakengard series) and compsed by Keiichi Okabe (NieR Automata). At it’s core, it’s a simple gacha game. You collect various characters (many from fairy tales), and use them to advance the several story lines from the game. It’s quite basic, but the execution is actually really good. The tutorial is delightfully short and I was actually surprised how quickly the game gave me free reign over its simple UI. The game is full of Yoko Taro’s dark humor and fourth wall breaking. Some people like it, others don’t. The pull rates for rare characters is also a bit low if that matters to you. However, aside from those things, the game is quite good.
Soda Dungeon 2
Price: Free to play
Soda Dungeon 2 is the dungeon crawler sequel to the popular Soda Dungeon. Players square off against The Dark Lord, who has hidden a bunch of treasures away in a castle. It has all of the usual dungeon crawler elements while adding things over the top for a more unique experience. For instance, you can customize how your AI friends act in battle for a more granular party experience. There is also a crafting system and an idle system to help you earn loot even when you don’t play. It is a free to play game, but everything is available with in-game currency if you grind enough. Thus, it’s quite free player friendly. There are also no energy systems or lives systems in place. You can play as much as you want.
Tales of Crestoria
Price: Free to play
Tales of Crestoria is another new gacha, but this one with a Tales theme. It features a new story about two friends who embark on an adventure in a world that doesn’t want them around. The story and its characters are unique, but like all gachas, there are cameos from existing Tales characters. The game is also free player friendly (relatively, anyway) and has the classic Tales game story of morality along with the familiar animations and music. The game received some flack due to it launching in Google Play before the game actually launched on the servers, but those problems are gone now.
Trivia Royale
Price: Free to play
Trivia Royale is a mix between a trivia game and a battle royale. You and a bunch of other players square off to see who can last the longest in a round of trivia. The game honestly plays a little bit like HQ Trivia minus the live performances and real cash winnings. You and about 1,000 other players line up and answer questions to see who makes it to the end. The game has some bugs and most of them are network issues. That’s kind of to be expected with a 1,000 players all in the same spot. Hopefully those subside in future updates because this is a fun little idea for trivial fans.
