Xiaomi Redmi 9 listed online, leaking renders and major specs
- The Redmi 9 has leaked via an online retailer in the Philippines.
- The retailer listing includes loads of marketing images and specs.
- Expect a quad rear camera, a big battery, and a relatively beefy SoC for the price.
Xiaomi’s Redmi phones are the go-to budget Android phones for millions of users around the world, and the company is set to reveal the Redmi 9 series later this month.
We’ve already seen Redmi 9 series leaks covering four phones, but a new leak via a retailer in the Philippines (h/t: Sudhanshu) has now detailed the Redmi 9 itself.
The listing on Lazada.com.ph gives us official-looking renders for starters, and it shows us a phone with a rear design that bears a strong resemblance to the Redmi K30 (or Poco X2 in India). There’s a circular camera hump along with three vertically aligned rear cameras, but we also see a tiny camera sensor next to the flash. Finally, a fingerprint scanner can be found on the back too.
Otherwise, the front of the Redmi 9 looks like any other budget phone really, showing a waterdrop notch rather than a punch-hole cutout or pop-up selfie camera.
The store listing also offers a ton of specs and seemingly official marketing graphics (seen above). The graphics and spec listing all point to a MediaTek Helio G80 chipset, contrary to earlier reports of a Helio G70 SoC. You can expect an octacore CPU (2x Cortex-A75 and 6x Cortex-A55), and a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. In fact, the marketing material points to a big leap over the Redmi 8, which lacked heavy lifting CPU cores.
Other notable specs listed on the store include a 6.53-inch FHD+ screen, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, 32GB of 64GB of storage, and a 5,020mAh battery with 18W charging.
The Redmi 9 listing also shows a quad rear camera setup, featuring a 13MP main sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens, 5MP macro camera, and 2MP depth sensor. An 8MP camera apparently handles selfies and face unlock.
Other specs touted on the page include an IR blaster, 3.5mm port, USB-C connectivity, and three colorways (purple, green, grey). The device is listed at a discounted price of 7,350 Philippine pesos (~$147), although the shop suggests the standard price is 8,888 Philippine pesos (~$178).
