Honor 30 Pro and Pro Plus are the company’s latest affordable flagships

Following the launch of the Honor 30s just a few weeks back, the company is back with three more phones to flesh out the flagship lineup.

The Honor 30, Honor 30 Pro and 30 Pro Plus bring a laser focus on camera features as well as top-end internals. Additionally, the bold typography-driven design language certainly stands out. Talking about specs, the Honor 30 Pro and Pro Plus are powered by a Kirin 990 chipset that we’ve seen on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro as well. Meanwhile, the Honor 30 employs a brand new Kirin 985 chipset that is built on a 7nm process and includes 5G capabilities.

A bigger focus on imaging

With a 50MP primary camera for the Honor 30 Pro Plus, it is clear that imaging is where Honor has focused the most. The primary camera sports a 1/1.28-inch IMX700 sensor with an RYYB filter which should enable excellent low-light imaging.

In addition to the primary sensor, the Honor 30 Pro Plus has a periscope zoom lens and a third 16MP ultra-wide lens. The periscope camera offers up 5x optical zoom which can be extended further to 10x hybrid zoom, with 50x being purely digital in nature.

The Honor 30 Pro eschews the 50MP primary camera for a 40MP sensor while holding on to the periscope and ultra-wide lens. Finally, the Honor 30 has a quad-lens system that pairs up the 40MP sensor from the Pro with a 50x-capable periscope lens and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. All three phones have a 2MP depth sensor.

Talking about front-facing cameras, the Honor 30 Pro and Pro Plus have a 32MP primary shooter in addition to an 8MP ultra-wide sensor. The vanilla Honor 30 drops the ultra-wide sensor.

What else does the Honor 30 series offer?

Over at the front, both the Pro models have an OLED waterfall display. The Pro Plus has a 6.57-inch Full HD+ screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. The regular Pro retains the screen size and resolution but lacks the high refresh rate panel. Finally, the regular Honor 30 has a smaller 6.53-inch Full HD screen with no high refresh rate either.

There’s a lot in common across all three devices. The battery capacity is 4,000mAh which isn’t quite the best given recent trends but the fast 40W charging should make up for it. Unfortunately, like the high refresh rate screen, fast 27W wireless charging is restricted to just the Honor 30 Pro Plus.

So how much does the Honor 30 Pro cost?

In China, the Honor 30 starts at 2,999 yuan (~$425) for the 6GB/128GB variant, and you can upgrade to an 8GB/128GB version for 3,199 yuan (~$450).

Meanwhile, the Honor 30 Pro will run you 3,999 yuan (~$565) for the 8GB/128GB variant while the 8GB/256GB version costs 4,399 yuan (~$620). The Honor 30 Pro Plus is available for 4,999 yuan (~$708), giving you 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
