The first phone in the Huawei P40 series is here
Huawei will unveil its P40 series flagships on March 26. Ahead of that launch, the company has quietly announced a Lite variant in the series called the Huawei P40 Lite.
The quad camera smartphone has launched in Europe, more specifically in Spain. It is essentially a rebranded version of the Huawei Nova 6 SE which launched in China back in December.
The Huawei P40 Lite is reportedly priced at €299 (~$326) in Spain. It runs on the 7nm Kirin 810 processor just like the recently launched global variant of the Honor 9X Pro.
What do you get for the price?
The Kirin 810 essentially rivals Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 675 and Snapdragon 730 platforms. However, it tops out at 1080p/30fps video recording, which means that camera can’t perform 4K video capture like phones powered by Qualcomm’s counterparts.
The P40 Lite processor is paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.
The IPS LCD display on the phone measures 6.4-inches and comes with a Full HD+ resolution of 2,310 x 1,080 pixels. It has a punch hole in the top left corner of the screen housing the 16MP selfie shooter.

The primary camera setup includes a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro camera, and another 2MP depth sensor. The quad camera setup is arranged in the shape of a square which closely resembles the camera housing on the iPhone 11 and Pixel 4 series.
The handset runs on EMUI 10 based on Android 10. Given the ongoing US trade ban on Huawei, the phone does not feature Google Mobile Services (GMS). Instead its comes with Huawei Mobile Services, including the revamped Huawei AppGallery.
Battery capacity of the P40 Lite is set at 4,200mAh and it comes with 40W SuperCharge. This battery size and wired charging speed is identical to the P30 Pro and Mate 20 Pro.
Huawei P40 Lite availability
The Huawei P40 Lite will be available in Spain starting March 2 through the Huawei e-store. It comes in three colorways: Crush Green, Sakura Pink, and Midnight Black. As mentioned before, the phone is priced at €299 (~$326) in Spain. Those who pre-order the device will get a free pair of Huawei FreeBuds 3.
We also expect the P40 Lite to launch in other European regions over the course of time.
