OnePlus 6/6T update hub: latest Android 10 beta brings December security patch

Update, January 14, 2020 (10:31 AM ET): OnePlus just released the latest Android 10 Open Beta 4 builds for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. Spotted by Android Police, the update includes December’s security patch, a few system optimizations, and a couple of new minor feature additions.

  • Added a feature to support reminders for privacy alerts
  • Improved system stability and fixed general bugs
  • Updated Android security patch to 2019.12

  • Added ringtone increasing and decreasing features for incoming calls

  • Fresh new chromatic effect for a more immersive and comfortable reading experience with smart color gamut and saturation adjustment (Settings-Display-Reading Mode-Turn on Reading Mode-Chromatic effect)

The OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T both launched in 2018. The OnePlus 6 launched with Android 8.1 Oreo and the OnePlus 6T launched with Android 9 Pie. The OnePlus 6 got its Android 9 Pie update not long after the software landed for the public.

Now, both the unlocked variants of the OnePlus 6 and 6T have official updates to Android 10. It is very likely both devices will eventually see updates to Android 11 in 2020. However, the jury is still out on whether or not the two devices will get Android 12 in 2021.

The T-Mobile variant of the OnePlus 6T is still stuck on Android 9 Pie for now. That update will likely land in the near future though.
