Xiaomi’s new Mi TV 4X 2020 Edition is even cheaper than its predecessor
Xiaomi has launched the Mi TV 4X (55) 2020 Edition in India. Compared to the previous Mi TV 4X 55 Pro, the 2020 edition comes with a software upgrade on board. The 55-inch 4K HDR television runs Android TV based on Android 9 and Xiaomi’s latest Patchwall 2.0 UI out of the box.
The Mi TV 4X (55) 2020 Edition still features the same brushed aluminum design. It stands on two feet placed under the two ends of the display. Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed this, but the frame still seems to have a plastic finish just like the previous Mi TV 4X 55 Pro.
Rest of the specs of the new Mi TV 4X (55) 2020 Edition seem to mimic those of its predecessor. You get Google Play Store support as well as access to all major streaming apps like Netflix, Hotstar, and Amazon Prime Video. You also get built-in Chromecast functionality and a Google Data Saver application. The inbuilt Data Saver app is targeted at those who use their mobile hotspot to stream videos on the TV. Xiaomi claims this will help users watch 3X more videos with the same amount of data.

Xiaomi Mi TV 4K (55) 2020 Edition price
The price of the new Mi TV 4X is actually smaller than its predecessor’s. Then again, besides its software upgrades, it’s essentially the same TV as before. The Mi TV 4X 2020 Edition is priced at Rs 34,999 (~$489). Compared to this, the previous Mi TV 4X 55 Pro was launched at a price of Rs 39,999 (~$559).
Chances are that this is a special sale price for the new TV. Xiaomi says it will be available in India starting December 2, 12 noon, on Mi.com, Amazon, and Mi Home.
Those buying Mi TVs on or till January 2020 will also be eligible for a discounted Airtel DTH connection with 4 months subscription.
