Vivo V17 Pro announced: Two selfie cameras, one pop-up
Vivo was a front-runner in the pop-up selfie camera game thanks to last year’s Nex S, but it isn’t stopping there though. The firm has just announced the Vivo V17 Pro, and its headline feature might just be the dual pop-up selfie camera setup.
The V17 Pro offers a 32MP normal and 8MP ultra-wide camera (105 degree field of view) on one pop-up housing. Vivo says a selfie softlight and earpiece are also found on this pop-up.
Softlight not doing the job? Fortunately, Vivo has followed Google and Huawei by implementing a Night Selfie mode too. This uses multi-frame image processing to boost low-light selfie quality.
As you’d expect from a 2019 release, the phone is packing a quad rear camera setup as well. You’ll find a 48MP standard shooter (IMX582), 13MP 2x telephoto camera, 8MP ultra-wide sensor (doubling as a macro camera), and a 2MP depth sensor.
What else should you know?
The Vivo V17 Pro is positioned at the upper mid-range bracket when looking at the rest of the spec sheet though. It’s packing a Snapdragon 675 processor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 4,100mAh battery with 18W charging.
Vivo’s device also serves up a 6.44-inch full-screen Super AMOLED screen (FHD+) with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Don’t expect Android 10 out of the box, as the phone is still running FunTouch OS 9.1 atop Android 9.0. But Vivo is touting a number of gaming-focused features in its software.
These gaming features include a Game Center for monitoring device temperature and other stats, Multi-Turbo tech to boost system and gaming performance at large, and a Voice Changer to hide your voice while chatting in games.
The Vivo V17 Pro will be available in Crystal Black or Crystal Sky and will be available in “multiple markets” internationally. More specifically, Vivo India has confirmed Indian availability via Flipkart and Amazon India, with a retail price of Rs. 29,990 ($423).
