Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1, S5e launched in India: Everything you should know
Indian consumers on the hunt for a decent Android tablet now have two more Samsung options in the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 and Galaxy Tab S5e.
The Galaxy Tab S5e is the more impressive device on paper, offering a mid-range Snapdragon 670 chipset, 4GB to 6GB of RAM, 64GB to 128GB of expandable storage, and a 7,040mAh battery.
Samsung’s slate also offers a 10.5-inch OLED screen (2,560 x 1,600), four speakers, an 8MP selfie camera, 13MP rear camera, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, USB-C, face unlock, and One UI atop Android Pie. Arguably the best reason to get the Galaxy Tab S5e is DeX though, as you can run the Samsung desktop environment when you connect a keyboard cover.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (seen above) is the more budget-focused model, offering a lower mid-range Exynos 7904 chipset (two Cortex-A73 cores plus six Cortex-A53 cores), 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of expandable storage.
Samsung’s cheaper device also packs a 10.1-inch LCD screen (1,920 x 1,200), 5MP selfie camera, 8MP rear camera, 6,150mAh battery, USB-C, and One UI paired with Android Pie. Don’t expect DeX support here, and it looks like you’ll have to do without a fingerprint scanner too.
The Galaxy Tab S5e starts at 34,999 rupees (~$504) for the Wi-Fi variant, while the LTE model will set you back 39,999 rupees (~$576). The Galaxy Tab A 10.1 Wi-Fi model is available for 14,999 rupees (~$216), and the LTE variant can be yours for 19,999 rupees (~$288). Samsung is also offering a keyboard cover for the discounted price of 3,500 rupees (~$50) as opposed to the 7,999 rupee (~$115) recommended price.
Samsung says the Galaxy Tab S5e is now available from leading retailers, but the Wi-Fi variant will launch via Amazon India, while the LTE model will launch on Flipkart. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 Wi-Fi model will only be available via Amazon India and Samsung’s online storefront from June 26. Looking for the LTE model? It’ll launch on July 1 via leading retailers and Amazon India. Both tablets will be available in silver, black, and gold.
