Huawei Nova 5 launched: New chipset, quad camera, 40 watt charging, more
We’ve seen some pretty handy smartphones from Huawei in 2019 thus far, such as the P30 series. But what if you’re looking for a cheaper device? Well, the firm has just announced the Huawei Nova 5 series in China, the latest entry in the upper mid-range family.
The new phone is the first device to ship with Huawei’s new 7nm Kirin 810 chipset. The new, octa-core chipset offers two 2.27Ghz Cortex-A76 cores and six 1.88Ghz Cortex-A55 cores. Meanwhile, the SoC also offers a Mali-G52 GPU for improved graphical performance. But the biggest addition is arguably the NPU, bringing dedicated AI silicon to Huawei’s mid-range silicon for the first time.
The Huawei Nova 5 also features a quad rear camera setup with a 48MP main camera, and a 32MP f/2.0 selfie camera in a waterdrop notch. The company adds that the new phone offers a 6.39-inch full HD+ OLED screen with an in-display fingerprint sensor. It’s also previously confirmed via Weibo that the new phone has 40 watt fast charging.
This is a breaking news story — more to follow.
