Google launches Duplex on the web, automating filling online forms
Last year, at Google I/O 2018, the search giant rolled out Google Duplex. The feature allows you to ask Google Assistant to make a phone call on your behalf, acting like a personal assistant making a haircut appointment or dinner reservation for you.
At Google I/O 2019 today, Google announced Duplex on the web, which will perform similar functions for you, but online instead of over the phone.
The example Sundar Pichai gave on stage was booking a car rental. Google Assistant would pull all the information needed for the rental (date, time, location, etc.) from Gmail by scanning your upcoming trips. It will also use information from previous rentals to fill in data such as car type, color, etc.
Pichai mentioned that Duplex on the web would be used at first for car rentals and movie tickets (he didn’t demo the movie ticket feature).
Duplex on the web will roll out this summer.
