Google Assistant’s “Tell Me a Story” Feature Comes to Phones

Google Assistant Tell Me a Story

Starting today, Google Assistant’s “Tell Me a Story” feature leaves its Google Home exclusivity and arrives on phones for access anywhere.

What is “Tell Me a Story?” It’s a Google Assistant command where you tell Google to tell you a story, which it will then do. Previously, it was limited to Google Home devices, but today you or your children can get the same stories told to them from a phone as you travel about, commute to school or work, or if you haven’t yet given in and bought a Google Home.

There are classic stories like “Little Red Riding Hood” or “Cinderella,” or newer (and sometimes more interactive) stories about Mickey Mouse, Lightning McQueen, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. If you want a calmer, bed time appropriate story, try the “Hey Google, tell me a bedtime story” command.

Google tells us that in order to get “Tell Me a Story” to work on mobile, you’ll need to make sure you have the latest version of Google Play Books installed.
